One day I was making some collages, experimenting with images from a book on ancient Greek and Roman sculpture. I didn’t have anything in mind, I was just playing around. The more I worked with the imagery, especially the busts and statues, a strong feeling began to move through me, ultimately centering in my heart chakra. It felt revelatory, an infusion of energy that seemed to bring one particular collage to life. It was an angel. Although I had no idea at the time, it was Uriel, the Angel of Inspiration.

From this angelic moment (or intervention!) comes the Couture Angels. “Couture,” because a big source of my collage work comes from the pages of fashion magazines. I loved combining the timeless imagery of Greek and Roman sculpture with current fashion to create each angel. I truly believe they were guiding me, and that each angel’s essence came through in the process of creating their image.

My sense of angels is that they are available to everyone — separate from religious beliefs or hierarchy. And, that when you ask, they will lovingly come forward to assist you. My hope is that the Couture Angels will help you to connect to the wisdom and solace that the angelic realm can bring.
