Hello Sunshine!

Well, spring is finally here. I don’t know about you, but it’s felt like a very long winter, especially in Seattle—Rain City, USA! I just mowed my lawn for the first time…okay, I didn’t personally mow it, it’s a very big yard—but you get the picture. And summer is just around the corner. To celebrate the arrival of more light, more sun in our lives, we’re going to explore—yes, the Sun card. My favorite card of the Tarot deck! Here’s why…

The Sun card represents new beginnings. Look at the image for this card and you will see the sun god Apollo in all his statuesque glory. Apollo guides us towards the sun and serves as a reminder that everything old can be reborn. Indeed, with each morning, with each light of day, we experience an awakening—a rebirth—the opportunity to start fresh. Here, we see through the dark clouds of illusion—our old baggage of past experience—and enjoy the freedom to be fully present to each new moment!

The road to success—inherent to this path–is through innocence. To cultivate the energy of The Sun, we must embrace our inner child, the child within who is just waiting to play! In this crazy, busy world, it’s easy to get caught up in stress, worry and doing-ness. But with The Sun, the glass is never lacking, it’s more than half-full—it’s filled to the brim with joy and optimism about your journey. Here, enthusiasm rules the day!

The mantra for this card is simple, but powerfully true: Everyday in every way my life gets better and better!

In astrology, the sun represents your vitality, your essence—your unique light. It is the real authentic you! Of course, all planets orbit around the sun, so this your moment to be the center of your own personal solar system. Meaning, it’s time to shine your light, without worry or doubt about what others think. You may say: “I’m too big!” “I’m too bright!”, or even “I’m too selfish!”—Nah! When your self-expression comes from a place of centeredness and well-being, it’s not about ego—it just you, being you. Which is a very good thing. The Sun says: Go big, or go home!

It’s time to recognize you—and all the gifts you bring to the table. So, become The Sun and shine your magnificent light unto the world!

Joyful blessings,

Megan

For the full experience of this message/card–checkout the video link above! It’s super magical!

It’s that special time of year, time to celebrate the event that us singletons sooo look forward to: Valentine’s Day! I say the last with some irony, because I’m currently on the “nun/monk/spiritual initiates” program, digging my romance with the Divine. (But hey, I’m free Saturday night…) Whether you are single or committed, this is a moment where we look more deeply into our relationship desires. And to expand the picture, this applies to your relationship with the energies of 2012 as well!

So of course, we’re going to explore The Lover’s card! Contrary to first impressions, The Lover’s path is not about romantic love. Here, we reach beyond the flowers and Hallmark cards, into a greater reality: The reality of choice and commitment.

The Lover’s here are shown at a crossroads, indicating a choice or decision. Behind them lie two roads: One is ruled by the Sun–representing innocence, the other by the Moon–representing wisdom. Neither path is right or wrong—both have value—but each represents a different journey or life experience.

Above our lovers is the Archangel Chamuel, the Angel of Love. Chamuel wears a crown of fire, representing the Flames of Desire. Falling in love is like walking into a fire! We may get burned, but in the best sense we learn, grow and hopefully evolve our choices. Through Eros—deep and passionate love—from the heights of intimacy, to the lows of longing and despair, we are transformed. And it’s nice to know that our angel of love, Chamuel, is with us, a divine presence guiding us on our journey.

The story of Adam and Eve is an obvious archetype here. Eve was sublimely naughty (why do we ladies always get the bad rap!?!), she ate the apple from Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil, awaking her desire for knowledge—and her freewill. In the process she and Adam were cast out of Eden into….the real world!

With the shifts and new energies of 2012, we are all at a crossroads of some kind or another. Personally, I’m excited about the amazing opportunities ahead, yet at the same time–there’s no sleeping at the wheel! We’re all in a sense, being cast out of an illusionary Eden and forced to take responsibility for our lives and creations.

And freewill rules the day. Now, at this amazing time on the planet, we have choices (sometimes too many?!), and it is up to us decide our experiences. So, what do you choose? Will you commit to a higher destiny, or will you be swept aside by the winds of fate? Will you take the high road or the low road? Basically, will you act out of fear or out of love?

Ultimately, the Sun and Moon of the Lovers represents the alchemical marriage within—the yin and yang energies within our own being. True union is a responsibility and a commitment—to yourself, others and your path in life.

So take a big bite of that apple, walk into the flames of your desire, and commit to love—whatever form it may take.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Holidays,

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving! I can’t believe the holiday season is here—where has the year gone? I’m sure, like you, I feel the creeping tendrils of “holiday stress monsters”–plans, family, parties, presents…

The spirit of the holiday is about family and friends–and celebration–a thanksgiving for all that we are grateful for. So how do we balance the desire for giving to others, with taking care and giving to ourselves? Where do your needs come into the equation?

In the Tarot, the perfect remedy to this question is The Strength card.

Let’s start with a story: the tale of “The Maiden and the Lion”–also known as “Beauty and the Beast”. Once upon a time…

A maiden encountered a wild beast—a lion! At first she was scared—terrified!–and wondered what to do. Should she run away? Call for help? Or even, find a way to kill the beast?

Alas, the maiden was innocent enough to believe that she could actually befriend the ferocious animal! She was the embodiment of Strength—Feminine Strength—representing the gifts of compassion, mercy and vulnerability. So, with great patience she allowed herself to get to know the lion, and in time she found herself in falling in love! And with her love the beast was transformed and surrendered to her. The maiden did not force its love, the lion gave it willingly (again the power of feminine strength)!

The lion represents our passion and desire—the beast within. In Hindu traditions it is the Kundalini energy—the vital life force, our procreative energy.

Passion and desire are powerful energies, and not always comfortable. For some, even scary—making us feel out-of-control (like the maiden—should we run away?!) Yet desire is the first step in any creation; and passion is what makes our heart beat fast–a timeless rhythm of divine individual expression. The Strength card is ruled by the astrological sign of Leo—representing the heart. Here we connect to our Heart’s Desires.

Unfortunately, desire gets a bad-rap, seen as prideful or egotistical. Yet listening to your desires–what is often termed as being “selfish”–is in the highest sense—taking care of yourself! So for this holiday take some to be a bit “naughty”. Fall in love with inner-beast and commune with your desires—it’s all good. Be gentle, loving and merciful to yourself, and from this powerful foundation of self love, you may find that you are more available and hence, truly and authentically “nice” to others.

Here’s wishing you a most wondrous and magical Christmas. May Santa and the spirit of the holiday be good to you–and bless you in fulfilling your heart’s desires!

Megan

Do you believe in miracles? I know, it may sound spiritually prosaic, new-age-y, nice concept, been there/done that—thank you very much! Take a deep breath, let go of the past and join me in the consideration, the possibility of some much needed miracles in your life!

We’re all going through the cosmic chaos: eclipses, planets shifting signs, political madness, global warming, can’t re-finance my house, my friend was just diagnosed with cancer, holy crap it’s almost 2012…stop the world, I just want to get off!

The end result for many is—what’s the point? I hear you and good question! So as I was meditating on this message, what came to me was the Fool card. The perfect remedy!

In the Tarot, The Fool is represented by the number “0”, representing The Great Unknown—the Cosmic Abyss. Scary? Absolutely! Yet, it’s the place of inspiration, the unlimited, higher vibration where all creation begins. And—yes, the place of miracles waiting to happen.

Entering the Fool’s domain–this unknown landscape-requires great courage; the willingness to take risks, step outside your comfort zones, swallow your fear and go where your higher self (also known as inspiration) calls you. It’s a moment of sublime, Divine Madness where you shout: “What the hell! I’m going for it!” It’s your Hail Mary pass to a whole new future!

The Fool’s mantra is: “The Fool jumps off the cliff because he knows the angels will catch him.”

In this topsy-turvy world we need to crazy “Fools” to succeed. There’s no more reason, conventional wisdom has gone out the door. The old structures, the old ways of life are falling apart before our eyes, and we’re all having to make it up as we go along.

But that’s the beauty of it!

This New Order, a place without rules and most excitingly, without limitation offers great freedom. Freedom from karma, the past, old ways of being–there has never been this kind of creative and spiritual opportunity on our planet ever before!

There’s no guarantee in regards to outcomes, but know that by taking the Fool’s leap of faith your life will be transformed in ways you never dreamed possible! I predict that, when you least expect it, surprise, surprise, your stars will somehow align and your desires fall magically in place. This is the Fool’s domain: Divine grace, synchronicity and—miracles.

Finally, I have a couple of openings available in my Fall Tarot card Intensive Course (October 1st & 2nd/November 5th & 6th). The Tarot is an ancient system of spiritual knowledge and by exploring the cards and their spiritual pathways, you will enter into a profound world of sacred knowledge.

Whether you are seeking deeper insight into your life, wanting a vehicle to explore your spiritual gifts, or looking for a way to serve and connect with others, my Tarot card Intensive could be the right fit for you. For more information go to the Events and workshops page on my website, or call me at 425-742-5355.

Here’s to miracles in your life—and knowing that the angels will catch you!

Namaste,

Recently I was planting flowers in my garden—a bit late, but here in the very damp city of Seattle we’ve had mostly gray skies and rain, rain, and more rain (I’m swallowing Vitamin ‘D’ supplements as I write this) –digging in the dirt, swatting away bees, listening to birds chirp, a sensual smorgasbord of nature’s earthly delights, and thought: “This is an Empress moment!” For more on The Empress…stayed tuned.

I flashed back to my years living in a downtown apartment. For most of my adult life I’ve been an urban girl digging the bright lights of the big city. My only connection to nature was the flower box outside my bedroom window! Don’t get me wrong, I Ioved every minute of my time in the city, but now that I’m living in (eek!) suburbia—but on a half acre, old orchard with fruit trees and lush greenery–I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of nature and all that she offers.

Sometimes I do miss walking to my neighborhood coffee house, pursing boutiques on my lunch hour and meeting friends for a cocktail or late night din-din. But I’ve happily traded my urban lifestyle for the peace that comes from quietness (no crowds or sirens) and being able to see stars at night! I feel like my being, my very soul, has been able to unfold. Less busy-ness, more being-ness. Dare I say that I’ve evolved into a ‘Natural Woman’? (I think there’s an Aretha Franklin song in there somewhere…)

So for this message, and to celebrate the Summer Solstice—June 21st–I chose the Empress Card. The Empress is ruled by Venus, the planet representing love, beauty, pleasure and abundance. Traditionally summer is a time to relax, let go of normal routines, to gather with friends and family, and enjoy life–what a concept!

The Summer Solstice is a time to rejoice in nature’s bountiful gifts, to celebrate seeds planted (both creative and literal) and taking time to watch them grow. To engage in the subtle, intuitive frequencies of nature. What I call ‘natural magic’. And I’ve found that communing with nature is a truly spiritual and rewarding act.

The Empress represents our feminine energy: the Goddess within. The Goddess wears many faces and spans all cultures. For example to the African people of Ghana, she is Akuaba, the Goddess of Fertility and Wisdom. In Greek mythology, she is Aphrodite or in biblical terms, Eve–the naughty Goddess who enticed Adam to take a bite of the apple, and awaken to sensual pleasure! To the Hindu’s she is Lakshmi—the Goddess of Good Fortune, Beauty, and Abundance.

Everyone has an inner Goddess—and this is as true for men as women. We live in a world that is just pregnant with possibilities, with hopes and dreams just waiting to take flight! To engage the Empress energies you must be willing to see the beauty in all things. In a sense, to find your own garden of earthly delights, you’re inner Eden, the place where you give birth to your wishes and desires. Imagine the possibilities!

I leave you with this traditional Wiccan blessing for the Summer Solstice: “As the sun spirals its longest dance, cleanse us. As nature shows bounty and fertility, bless us. Let all things live with loving intent–and fulfill their truest destiny.”

Namaste

“A spiritual teacher is not a human being trying to be spiritual, but a spiritual being learning vital emotional lessons by wearing the cloak of humanity.” Liz Simpson

The idea of spiritual teacher is something that I have often pondered. Certainly it is a role that I strive towards, especially in my work as a professional clairvoyant. And what has come to mind is–am I worthy? I’m not perfect (I’ve got my issues, don’t get me started!) and ultimately—bottom line—I’m human. So how can I be responsible for the souls of others? I don’t have a ministry degree—although I am a minister in good standing through the Progressive Universal Life Church—$29.95 through the internet and have a lovely framed certificate to prove it! Yet who am I to guide others on their spiritual path?

So for this blog I choose the Hierophant card–or rather it chose me—in the Tarot representing the path of spiritual leader and teacher. We tend to put our spiritual leaders and teachers on a pedestal: They know more than we do, are somehow better or more spiritually evolved. (And spiritual doesn’t mean religious—there’s a vast difference. Religion is a church based dogma of spirit–not that there’s anything wrong with religion—it is a powerful force for many. Spirituality is the expression of spirit in whatever form you choose.)

I find that people often put me on a pedestal because I work within the spiritual/psychic realm (the word “psychic” means “of the soul”, it is the non-physical realm or in more current terms: the energetic realm) and hence am “all knowing”: that I have all the answers–answers you don’t. No true. My job is to be fully present to your higher spiritual consciousness and attune to what I hope is the insight you need in the moment. And yes, that sometimes means giving you information from a bigger perspective that you may not be consciously aware of. And I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t say that my ego-self does love being right. And helpful.

A spiritual teacher comes in many forms. It could be the minister at your church, or your counselor or healing practitioner, the coach of your child’s soccer league, your accountant (and I have met some very spiritually minded accountants!)–or simply the kind neighbor or friend who offers you a sympathetic smile and ear when you need it most, the person who looks directly into your eyes and communicates—it’s okay, and is there anything I can do?

My definition of a spiritual teacher–and the essence of The Hierophant–is a human vessel for the sacred: A bridge between the human and the divine. No right or wrong–no being perfect. Instead, the ability to be present to spirit in whatever form moves through you and—more importantly—to fully embody it—and most importantly–communicate it. To not hesitate to reach out and touch the life of another. To be in that moment—the bridge!

And there is such sweetness in the bridge. I have found that people relate more to me as a spiritual teacher when I am being my human self—go figure—imperfections and all. And even sweeter—I often find that by being open, I learn as much from them as they learn from me. The student becomes teacher and so on. All so perfect.

Ultimately this path represents Communion: a desire for deeper communion with spirit and with other likeminded individuals. And even, perhaps, the desire to play more of a leadership (mentor, teacher) role in influencing others? Here the issue of responsibility can be daunting. So I will share my mantra from a great spiritual leader, The Buddha: “When leading, be generous with the community, honorable in action, sincere in your words. As for the rest, do not be concerned.”

In other words, give voice to your spiritual expression and then let it go. Our planet greatly needs you–your voice—your influence. And know that your presence will enhance other’s lives—whether big or small!

Namaste
